The Churchill Churchill Society of North Carolina began as The Churchill Group of North Carolina on April 17, 2004, in Durham, NC by William C. Roeder, Maj. Robert D. Seals, Dr. Gary L. Snyder, and A. Wendell Musser, MD. Dr. Musser assumed the role of "temporary" leader of the group for the next three years.
In April 2008, The Churchill Group of North Carolina changed their name to The Churchill Society of North Carolina. Craig Horn, former Treasurer and Member of the Board of The Churchill Centre was elected chairman, William Roeder, Vice Chairman and Lorraine Horn, Secretary/Treasurer. A new board was also formed consisting of Thad Adams, Mason Alexander, George Ivey, III, A. Wendell Musser, M.D., Nicholas Vaughn and Janet Veronen.
The Churchill Society of North Carolina is an Affiliate of The Churchill Center (www.winstonchurchill.org) founded in 1968 to foster leadership, statesmanship, vision, boldness and courage among democratic and freedom-loving peoples through the thoughts words, works and deeds of Winston Spencer Churchill.
The Churchill Society of North Carolina encourages the study of history through the life and thought of Sir Winston Churchill by advancing knowledge of his example as statesman, orator, soldier, politician, author, painter, philosopher and family man.
